See the source imageAs an organization of predominantly African American women, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is uniquely positioned to impact not only the well-being of its membership, but also the families and communities we serve. The DeltaCare initiative is an internal wellness initiative under the programmatic thrust of Physical and Mental Health. It was created to promote self-care through physical wellness, emotional wellness, and awareness/advocacy. Specifically, the Red S.H.O.E. challenge is the physical health component of DeltaCare that encourages members to engage in healthy behaviors. S.H.O.E. is an acronym for Self-care, Healthy Options, and Exercise

Health Motivations

The Dover Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., COVID 19 Committee continues to donate masks, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, school supplies and more to Foster Care Facilities, Churches, Barber Shops, Salons and more. 


DAC Programs

 Family Projects

The Family Projects Committee addresses Economic Development and Physical and Mental Health Initiatives to develop and coordinate projects and programs to educate and assist families and/or individuals in need. Some of our local activities include the following:

  • Year-long outreach programs at the Delaware Hospital For The Chronically Ill
  • Adopt- A- Family at Christmas – Families that do not qualify for state or other local assistance.
  • Adopt-A-Soror In A Nursing Home/Rehabilitation Center
  • Dover Interfaith Mission Donations
  • Code Purple food, clothing, toiletries and blanket donations
  • Donations to local Church’s Summer Youth Camps for families who cannot afford to pay. 
  • Provide candy to the Modern Maturity Center, annual trunk or treat.
  • Provide suit cases/bags, under garments, socks and toiletries to foster children that are transiting from homes to home.
