Risk Management

Welcome to Dover Alumnae Chapter Risk Management for Volunteers

Who is a Volunteer?
In Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (Delta Sigma Theta or Delta), any individual participating in Delta’s youth initiatives is defined as a volunteer.  This applies to members of Delta Sigma Theta and non-members (i.e. Deltas and non-Deltas)
Delta Sigma Theta has three national youth enrichment programs designed to promote the development of young girls and boys. These include, but are not limited to, Delta GEMS, Delta Academy and EMBODI (collectively “youth initiatives”).

What are the requirements for becoming a Volunteer?

  1. Must be 18 years of age or older
  2. Complete the application process
  3. Pass a criminal background check using the approved vendor
  4. Complete risk management training
  5. Sign and abide by the youth initiative code of ethics
  6. Recognize signs and symptoms of child abuse/neglect
  7. Abide by Delta’s mandatory reporting policy

Risk Management is the process of assessing risk and acting in such a manner, or prescribing policies and procedures, to minimize loss associated with such risk.

Risk Management is important because it protects our organization, ensures the safety of all participants in our youth programs, evaluates allocation of resources, focuses on the enrichment of our youth participants, and focuses on prevention.
